Can you inflate an air bed while laying on it?

I bought an air bed at Wal-Mart... don't know the brand or anything... is it safe (will it break if) to inflate the bed while I'm laying on it? I always think it's good and it seems too soft...

That would depend on your pump weather or not inflating can be accomplished. But the question arises, why would you need to be on the mattress when inflating, that makes the pump work so much harder and slows the process. If it isn't firm enough, put in more air, it's a no brainier.

no... your added wieght will severely stress the little motor... just let it fill all the way up and then give it an extra 5 seconds.. You will only destroy the bed and motor if you lay on it while inflating.

i never had a problem but i think it warns against it to protect the motor
