OK. I was wondering if I had to buy that 140$ High flow kit for my 08 Nightster, and it says in the catalouge that you have to remap the engine (ECM)

I know in older models and other bikes and cars, you can just take out the stock filter and put in a high flow one... no remap... no replaceing the air filter box....

is you can.. where can You buy the air filter? WHo makes it?...

Main problem I ran into seems to be that 07 and later has EFI not carburator.

THanks in advance.

  1. k&w filter is what your looking for and if you just change the filter and do nothing else then your not going to see much if any differants... and sure its best to get all you can out of it better pipes and breather and the high flow kit

  2. If that bike has 02 sensers you can can run into a lot of money by just changing the air cleaner. They are so lean from the factory that you could damage the engine by doing it. You should buy a Power Commander, SE Race tuner, or some other ECU piggy back. Thats $400 or $500 hundred more, and to tune them right they should be put on a dyno. Few more hundred. If you are going to do that you might as well change pipes and even cams.

  3. The short answer is no.

The longer answer is if you increase air volume you must increase fuel otherwise the motor will run way lean.

You can run slip-on mufflers without a re-map but you must re-map if you install a hi-flow air filter be it K&N, Harley, or other.

  4. It aint that simple Cuz thats just one step a filter alone would just s***w it up

    And its K&N filters
