Question:

Can you install a mini-fridge under counter that's not rated for that?

I just bought a mini-fridge to put into a built-in wet bar. I unpack it at home and see that it's "Not to be used as a built-in" fridge. If I can provide adequate space around the thing is there any problem with going ahead and using it?

This is the fridge.

  1. If you are just setting it under the wet bar I don't see a problem.

  2. I am not positive but I think what they mean by a built in is that there needs to be ventiliation and a built in would not allow enough ventilation and could cause overheating.  I would say if you are just placing it under a counter and there is lots of space around the sides of the fridge then it shouldn't be a problem.  Just keep an eye on things and check it periodically by touching the sides and top.  Also make sure you don't have it pushed up against the back wall, this will also cause some heat issues.

Sounds like your going to have a good time at your house.  Have fun!
