I have a Dish network satellite and reciever (paid subscriber). My brother in law gave me a Direct TV receiver. Is there a way to configure the sat for Dish network to work with Direct Tv reciever box? Because of my location, I can not get any local channels through Dish Network unless I pay All American sat and those channels are CA and not NY. I also heard there was a website that allowed you to reprogram your Dish Network receiver to a different location to pick up channesl say from NYC instead of upstate NY. Anybody please!!!

  1. The satellite dish is just an antenna to receive the signal from the satellite in the sky.  If you point the dish to D!rect tv satellite, then you will get the dtv signal.  If you point it to D!sh satellite, you get the D!sh network signal.  I think there is a legal problem if you use one provider dish to pick up signal from another provider.

The signal is scambled up so that only paid customer can watch tv with a subscribed receiver.  Also you can not use D1rect tv receiver to watch D!sh network tv or vice versa, because they are using different technology.

  2. A dish is just a dish.  It does not matter whether it is Ditv, D!sh network, or a no name dish....  You can not use D!rect TV receiver without subscription.  D!rect tv has shut down the hackers in the last 10 years.
