Can you invest in Indexes

I could make a lot in an Index but someone had told me that I couldn't invest in an Index...... !! Help !!

Yes, you can invest in Indexes via ETFs, just go to ishares.com or proshares.com or Google "ETF"

You can invest in ETF's that track an index (and there are plenty of those out there now). And you can also trade in index futures, using leverage.

They have tradable versons of the Indexes.

For example

S&P= SPY

DJ JONES= DIA

NASDAQ= QQQQ

well, you can't invest DIRECTLY in an index.

you CAN however buy ETFs or mutual finds that are built to track indexes.
