Question:

Can you join a foreign army if you aren't currently a resident or citizen in that country?

Kind of an odd question, but I was just curious. For some countries I kinda thought they would take whoever was willing...but then I thought maybe they could be considered a "spy" or something, I dont know..unless they had to stay in that country. Anyway anyone have any idea on this? =P

  1. You can do that here in the US. In fact I have several buddies that joined because it would "fast track" their citizenship. Plus I think the military covers the costs.


  2. Yes, the the french foreign legion excepts any one in the world.   You just have to pay to get over there.   They are one of the units in the world.

  3. If I'm not mistaken the French will take people from other countries.  However, if you are a US citizen joining any foreign military as an officer is a reason to forfeit your citizenship.
