  1. There're some limits to training, like I think you're too old for USAF flight school, but the limit for enlistment's 42 now.

  2. You must be no older than 34  years old, check this web site out it really helpful and good luck.

  3. First off, you're not too old to join ANY branch.

Some of the jobs (MOS/ratings) may be limited to you, but there are a lot you can choose from.

If by any chance you were wanting to go into computers in the Navy, I would suggest anything in the Advanced Technical Field (ATF) such as AECF (Adavnced Electronics Computer Field). The Navy trains in all aspects of electronics like computer systems, radas, communication systems and weapons fire control systems. There's two jobs into this, ET or FC. ET basically is Electronics Technician and FC is Fire Controlman. You go to boot camp, either as an E-1 or E-2 but if you have college credits you can use it to great use, go in as E-3 and get a bigger bonus!

During boot camp they assign you to be ET or FC, a lot of recruits want to be FC but ET and FC are both awesome rates.

Plus if you leave the Navy you will have a lot of job openings to look into with this, so you won't be left empty handed.

If you want more information, have more questions, need advice, want money information etc, then head on over to http://www.mynavyonline.com, I'm KJC88 there. We can help a lot more, and there is a list of ratings (jobs) there besides AECF that include computers.

I know of a 28 year old who's leaving for boot camp March 2009 and she's going AECF so you're definitely not too old at all!

    Good luck!

  4. The upper age limit for Navy is much older than you and I, go for it..

  5. If you're turning 25 then you definately well within all of the branches age limits.

  6. I believe the limit is max age limit is 34 for commissioning. At least it used to be.

Problem is that whether you enlist or go for an officer program, you'll be competing with kids who are 7 years younger than you. You'll be "gramps." And, if you can't keep up, you have no idea how much they can dish it out.. and very likely will.

Another problem... the highest casualty in the military is young romance. If you're serious, I'd not make any definite pans until you have at least six years in; or until you have gotten out and landed a good civilian job. People in love like to be together. The military often gets in the way of that. Young people in love are often used to being pampered by parents. When you start out in the military there will barely be enough money to take care of absolute necessities -- there will be no "pampering," unless a trip to McDonald's once a month is what you call "pampering." And what little money there is, if you're smart, you'll put a chunk of it in savings, or in some solid growth investment fund... and you'll leave it there.

I enlisted with a BA in Math at 20. After a few years somebody dusted off the degree and recommended me to OCS. I spent 25 years in. Met several girls of my dreams... but never married.

  7. 17 - 45 years old is the standard military age bracket

  8. I think late 30s,,,maybe 40 y/o is the max.

  9. you got lots of time, go to it!

  10. The age limit for the US Army is 42.

  11. You are still young enough to join any branch you choose.  The AF and Coast Guard age cut off is the lowest at 27.

  12. Active Army - 42

Army Reserves (Including National Guard) - 42

    Active Air Force - 27

Air Force Reserve (inlcuding National Guard) - 34

    Active Navy - 34

    Naval Reserves - 39

    Active Marines - 28

    Marine Corps Reserve - 29

Active Duty Coast Guard - Age 27. Note: up to age 32 for those selected to attend A-school directly upon enlistment (this is mostly for prior service).

Coast Guard Reserves - Age 39.

Prior Service gets a bit of a break, but that doesn't apply to you.

  13. Rest assured, you are under the age requirements for the services.  Please be aware that while your age may not bar you from enlisting you will have to keep up with individuals who are as young as 17-18, so it will take some dedication.  If you are already in college, have you considered one of the ROTC programs?  In short while you can enlist in all the services, the window is fast closing on some of the officer programs.  Here is a long run down of your options.

    1.  Navy

-Enlistment in either the active or reserve Navy is an option.

-Navy Officer Canadate School.  You train after you graduate.  Not all fields will be open to you, and going from enlisted to officer might be "difficult".  Depending upon where you are in your degree, you may be able to make the cut off of 29 BARELY.

    2. Marines-

-You can enlist in either the Active or Reserve component of the USMC.

-Marine Corps PLC/OCC (Officerwise)  IN order to be elgiable for either of these programs, you have to go enlisted to get the age waver, AND complete your degree by the time you are 30 years old.

    3.  Army

-Enlistment in the Army National Guard, Army Reserve, or Active Army is avaliable.  Please be aware that transfering between these services can sometimes be difficult.

-Army SMP/(ROTC)  You enlist in either the Army Reserve or Army National Guard.  You train with your unit, and learn the "ropes" of being an officer.  There are numerous financial inccentives avaliable, with the possibility of free tuition.  Be careful what incentives you take however, as some carry a commitment to a Reserve component.  YOU MUST COMPLETE BY AGE 30.

-Army OCS is a course you take after you graduate from college.  It doesn't carry the bells and whistles of ROTC, and may require some effort to get a recruiter to do the paperwork.

    Air Force

-Although you most likely not be elgiable for a piltos position, see the details regarding Army enlistment, ROTC and OCS.

    Coast Guard

-Yes they are a service, and you are elgiable to attend OCS/enlist.

  14. Army is 17-36 or prior service 38
