Can you just camp in the Adirondack state park new york?

Like me and my friends are going there tomorrow and we were wondering if you can just set up a campsite anywhere in the Adirondack state park in upstate new york or you have to camp at designated areas only. We don't really want to have any trouble.

  1. yes pretty much have to be in a designated area, thers a few just south of old forge and more as you go north along the way.  email me for any more specifics, I know alot of cool spots depending on where u will be.


  2. 1) Campgrounds, both public and private are easy choices.

    2) Roadside primitive camping - spots are around, but not well documented.

    3) Backcountry Camping - usually designated sites or a lean-to when available.  Rules are simple.  See below.
