I have glasses now and I would really like to get contacts.

Can I just go to Pearl Vision and buy them or do you have to have an appointment or anything first?

  1. No, you can't just go buy them. Contacts require a prescription - even if they're not prescription powered. It's because they have to be measured for the individual person so they don't damage they eye by not fitting and rubbing/scratching the cornea. They also could be a different prescription than your glasses prescription because they sit ON the eye instead of in front of it, like glasses do. You have to make up for the distance.

So, first you need a regular eye exam. Then, you'd need a contact lens fitting, which costs extra and is separate from the eye exam that everyone gets for glasses. This fitting usually runs between 40-80 dollars depending on where you go and how bad your Rx is. You'd just have to call around.

Anyway, hope this helps! Good luck...

  2. you have to make an appointment. they need your eye prescription. call up the place first.

  3. you have to make an appt. first. they have to make sure that you can actually wear them and decide which kind to prescribe you.

  4. no, you must go to an eye doctor and have them check your eyes and prescribe you contacts because they will tell you the best brand for your eyes, give you the proper prescription, give you the proper size for your cornea and teach you how wear them and clean them and what not. no place will sell you contact lenses without a doctor prescription.

  5. Hey there, you do need to get a prescription and have them fitted first.

Once you know your prescription, I then order them from the website below. I save a whole bunch, because I don't have to pay the markup my optometrist puts on them.

    Best of luck!
