Question:

Can you keep a crown with a cavity under it?

I had my teeth sawed down and crowns put on them. I have a horrible pain under one of them, I'm pretty sure is a cavity. I don't really have money to replace it, so is there any way a dentist could fix the cavity and put the same crown back on, or even fix the cavity without removing the crown?

  1. Not sure when you got your crowns but you should not leave it as the pain will not go away without a root canal. Pain in a tooth usually requires a root canal. However if you had those crowns done recently the dentist may have ground down the tooth structure too close to the nerve, that will cause pain too so give that time and it may go away. Impossible to clean under a crown without removing it and they usually don't fit back on.  You could get it extracted, that is not too costly. Sorry its not good news but good luck

  2. it all depends on the dentist, if the want to try and fix it, best bet is to get it redone again once you mess with a tooth its hard to repair n glue the crown on again. or have it taken out.

  3. YES, THERE IS A WAY TO DO THIS. YOUR DENTIST CAN TREAT THE CAVITY IF IT'S ACCESSIBLE FOR REPAIR.
