Can you keep a sea horse in a 5 gallon tank?

i want a tank specifically for sea horses and coral, is a 5 gallon big enough, or could i get a 2.5 gallon or even need a 10 gallon?

  1. I think that would be very difficult to keep a seahorse in that small of a tank.  Also, it is not really possible to keep seahorses in a reef tank, due to the lighting needed.


  2. I believe they need al ot more space than that.

While you COULD technically keep a pair of small seahorses (not a single one, they like to be in pairs or groups) in a 5 gallon tank, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're an expert saltwater aquarist.  Seahorses are very difficult to keep even for experienced keepers.  It would be much easier to keep them in a larger tank.

  4. Jerry is right. Also, its really hard to control the water parameters for a saltwater tank of that size. And I heard that coral and seahorses need to have near perfect water parameters to flourish.
