Can you kick a fieldgoal in the NFL barefoot or with socks?

  1. It would be really hard but it is possible to kick it. I would say that someone couldn't kick it more then 20 maybe 25 yards.


  2. no way !!!!!!! i don't even think that the best kicker of all-time could ever do that!

  3. There used to be a barefoot kicker about 20-some years ago. I don't remember who he played for, but the announcers always commented on the fact his kicking foot was bare. He did wear a shoe on his other foot.

    Edit- Looked it up. Rich Karlis, Denver. Tony Franklin, Philadelphia. Mike Lansford, for a couple of teams.

  4. I personally cannot, but there have been a number of barefoot kickers in the past. Rich Karlis used to kick barefoot for Denver in the 80's. There were a number of kickers who did it before him. As for with socks I cannot remember anyone kicking in just socks. I don't think it would work to well for them keeping their footing as they approach the ball or after wards on the follow through.
