Can you lease a car for 1 year?

Can you lease cars for only 1 year? OR takeover leases? and whereabouts would i look to do this?

Just call the dealerships? no clue where to go from here.

I'm leaving the country next summer, but would like a vehicle for the year!

  1. You may find something at www.swapalease.com. This website is for people who wants to change car and looking for people to take over their lease.

    OR... buy a used car, sell it before you leave.


  2. you actually lease the car from the manufactorer, not the dealership, when you return the car the manufactorer owns it, not the dealership. you just lease the car through the dealership, but they dont own the lease.

    Different leasing companies have different lease terms, just call a dealer and tell them you want to lease for 12mnths, and if they cant help you then call another one.  

  3. New leases start at 24 months, so you would not be able to lease a brand-new car for 12 months. Although used-car leases are possible, it's pretty rate and it's hard to find a lease company willing to lease used cars.

    You could consider a lease takeover or transfer because people who want out of their leases have anywhere from a few months to several years remaining on their leases. You can find these kind of leases at swapalease or other such Internet sites. Here's an article with more details:
