Can you leave a car battery drained without hurting it?

Drain the water and acid from a battery can you then store it for awhile until ready to fill it with water and acid without hurting it?

Not a good idea - but if you insist, make sure that the battery is fully charged before you drain it to minimize the sulfur which collects on the plates during discharge. Better if you just leave it and put a trickle charge on it once a week or so.
