Can you legally hold someone to a contract from an email? What is the best way to contact over internet?

I want to sell a product over the net and want a legal contact about warrant and purchase agreement. Should I have customer sign and mail back contract?

  1. Emails will not be enough to legally hold someone to contract. The usual practice is to send across the document and get the other party, to print it out, sign, scan and send it back.

    It will hardly take 10 minutes from your customer's extra time and will give peace of mind to both parties. I guess you a bit more than him.  


  2. if its in writing its legal.

    but if there are problems you may need to prove the person you contract with is the author of the email and of legal age to enter into a contract.

    its best to get a handwritten signature.
