Can you legaly drop out of high school at the age of 17 in the state of california?

Question

cause i just want to attend a community college and get that done with because i already know i will not finish high school i'm way too far behind

i'm 17 and teachers say i cant but i know they lie to keep me coming so that they recieve money so i need to know the truth

please do not lecture me on how i should not drop out because of this or that because that is not my question.

if it is legal for me to drop out please tell me the nessisairy steps i need to take in order to do so. thanks very much

I don't know if it's legal but I know this for certain; there will come a time when you will truly regret that choice.  don't do it, no matter what, DON'T DO IT.

and by the way, you can't get into any college without your diploma.

community college will not accept you without a GED. You are screwed in you drop out of high school. What would make the admissions people at a community college think they should admit you if you cant even handle high school? Also, whenever you go to look for a job and they find out you dropped out, you will not be hired.

Just suck it up and finish your requirements for high school to get your diploma, its really the only way to do it right. Plus, people will always think you were a loser for not graduating from high school....I mean come on, how hard is freaking high school? And you think comm college is gonna be a breeze if you cant even handle the high school classes? You need a does of reality.

First off, when your parents pay taxes they(teachers) are going to recieve money anyways.  

It is legal for you to drop out.  I would imagine you talk with your schools principal on furthur information.

Just so you know, 1/4 californians drop out of high school.
