  1. Of course we can.  I do it all the time.  I don't hire folks that do that - Lord only know what else you lied about.

I used to be a college admissions counselor.  Did we check this?  No, we didn't - but, to a large degree, this isn't going to make or break your application anyway.

Why do you feel the need to do this?  Why not just go volunteer somewhere?

  2. You can lie about anything you want. But if you can't back it up with actual experience, then they will know you were full of c**p. It all depends on how much time they have to do all these background checks. Many people are overwhelmed with work & have no choice but to take your word at face value. So in the end, it's up to you.

  3. Yes, they can check on anything they want to.  So if you lie and they find out, you're pretty sure not to be accepted.  There's a fair chance they won't check, but you have to decide if you're willing to take that risk.

Why don't you just go get involved in something worthwhile?  Then you can at least say that before you didn't realize the value of volunteering but once you did, you got involved.  Otherwise, you just look selfish and self-centered.

  4. I'm college right now and I told them I volunteer in some nursin homes and that was a lie. And now I'm workin for admissions office at my college we look at what kind of activities and volunteer work u did but we don't have time to check if its a lie or not cuz that would takes months and we don't have that kind of time..

  5. That is really crappy that you need to lie your way through life.Do the work and have some pride.
