I'm tired of eating Asian food (Thai, Filipino) although I do love it. Chinese food I don't really like anymore because everytime I'm hungry and eat it I'm still hungry, it doesn't fill me up at all.

I'm craving American food actually LOL...not fast-food. I think I want to try to cook some American food but I don't have any ideas.

Prefer something with meat mmM!

  7. BBQ chicken, pinto beans and cornbread is fairly simple:

Season chicken with garlic, salt, pepper. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes. Brush with bottled BBQ sauce, return to the oven and bake for 5-10 more minutes. Even better would be to grill over charcoal if you have that available.

Soak 1lb bag of dry beans overnight. Drain and place in a large pot with 1 diced onion, 1/2 lb.diced bacon, pepper, a tbls. of brown sugar and enough fresh water to cover. Simmer for 3 hours then add salt to taste.

    Corn bread:

    1/4 pound butter

    1/3 cup white sugar

    2 eggs

    1 cup buttermilk

    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

    1 cup cornmeal

    1 cup all-purpose flour

    1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8 inch square pan.

Melt butter in large skillet. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Quickly add eggs and beat until well blended. Combine buttermilk with baking soda and stir into mixture in pan. Stir in cornmeal, flour, and salt until well blended and few lumps remain. Pour batter into the prepared pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

    Hope that helps
