I have tried to listen to a portable radio but the electric buzz from the train ruins the reception. Will I have the same problem with a Sirius receiver?

  1. If you are underground with a Sirius receiver, you won't hear anything at all!  It will give a readout saying "acquiring signal".  You will have to be outside to be able to get a signal.

  2. You'll probably have the same problem. But to be sure, call or email Sirius tech support and ask them. Tony's right about underground. I can't even get my XM when I pull under the drive-through teller.

So, if most of your trip is above ground there is a chance the radio will work. In any case, I believe they offer a trial period. That might be your answer. See if they'll let you return it within thirty days.
