Stay with me now, hold time in your strong hand.

Telling you good-bye shatters my glass heart.

Adultery and thoughts of you demand

Love that must be ended before its start.

Listen to me please; hold me, we can stand,

I know that if you leave I'll fall apart.

Now I regret a love I did not give,

Grieving with it a life I would not live.

It was ok for me but I really don't follow it.

He holds time so you can say goodbye and shatter your own heart?... Adultery before love is started, if there's no love where is the adultery.

Maybe I have a mental block... it's happened before.

add: after further thought I now conclude this is love with a married man... makes perfect sense now.

This poem is full of regret of what was and what could have been.  You express the sadness with an ache.  Very good poem.

There is one serious error here. Line six should read, "I feel that if you leave I'll fall apart." But this poem does show definite signs of progress. It is much less a bewailizationment of helplessness and much more just a pure and honest expression of how much you are hurting. Where you and I have disagreed so much is in our assessments of your character. I think you are a very strong person who is managing to cope with all the S**t that the fan blows your way, And your poetry ain't half-bad either.

This is such bittersweet poetry! To love someone who you know is forbidden and to cling to that want! To wish for a long time something that just cant be! How bold and also how sad is it to feel this way! A great pen to this event you have done! Cheers!
