Can you logically reason and solve quiz # 11 ?

Question

Dear Friends

You are the driver of a two seater coupe. You have been requested to take 3 passengers to their hotel. Ponting will be picked up from the nightclub , as you can see in the drawing, indicated by the red-light area (of shading). Harbhajan and Murali will be picked up from the "Spinners Academy" which happens to be just next to the Nightclub.

The main problem, is that, Harbhajan does not get along with Ponting and Ponting does not get along with Murali, so you can never leave 2 contentious individuals at the same place, either at the hotel or at the pick-up spot.

How then do you transport the customers?

Is there a way? Remember, you can only transport one passenger at a time. What will be your strategy?

Bhai, This reminds me of that riddle of a tiger, goat & grain when you can only take two things to the other side of the bridge at a time & have to drop them all with safety.

Easy.

I will pick up Ponting from the nighclub, and drive him to Spinner's Academy. Once there, Ponting and I will climb out, handing the keys to Murali. He and Harbhajan would drive off to the hotel. Murali would leave Harbhajan there, and return to the street where Ponting and I have been deposited. I would then drive Murali to the hotel, and then return for Ponting.

Come back

Take Murali to hotel and bring Ponting while returning, back to the club.

Then take Harbhajan to the hotel.

Come back to the club and take Ponting to the hotel.

Now all the three will be in the hotel of course in different rooms.

This is similar to an old riddle:

Q: A man has a fox, a hen and some seed. He must take them across a river in a boat, but the boat can only hold the man and one other item. Can the man take the fox, hen and seed across, never leaving the fox with the hen or the hen with the seed (because, if left alone on one side, the fox would eat the hen and the hen would eat the seed)?

A:

1) Man takes hen across the river, leaving fox with seed

2) Man then goes back, picks up the fox and crosses the river

3) While on destination side, man leaves the fox there, but picks up the hen and takes it back to beginning side, leaving fox by itself

4) Man then leaves hen back on beginning side, brings seed over to destination side where the fox is, and leaves seed with fox

5) Man then goes back to get the hen, and brings hen over to destination side.  Now all three things (fox, hen and seed) are on destination side.  Fox was never left alone with hen, and hen was never left alone with seed

The key is that the driver will have to make a return trip with someone.  You can substitute the people for the fox , hen and seed and work out the solution

Well, heck, I'll solve it for ya:

1) Pick up Ponting and take him to Hotel, leaving Harbhajan  and Murali behind.

2) Pick up Harbhajan  and take him to Hotel.

3) Bring Ponting back from Hotel to nightclub (so he's not left alone with Harbhajan  at Hotel)

4) Bring Murali  to Hotel.  Now Harbhajan  and Murali are at Hotel, which is fine, since they get along

5) Go back to nightclub and pick up Ponting, and bring him to Hotel.  

Now everyone is at the Hotel

* Take Harbhajan to the hotel first, then followed by Murali.  Since they get along they shouldn't kill each other at the hotel, especially since they were already at the Academy together.  You may want to mention that you will be picking up Ponting to the two of them so as to avoid a conflict.  Then you pick up Ponting and take him to the hotel.
