I lost two close family members back in 2006. They died two months apart and I really don't have any memories of that year. It was my senior year in high school and the only thing I remember is when I found out that they had passed

away. I don't even remeber the things I learned my senior year.

  1. Yes it is the shock and grief that does that...we mercifully forget things that are especially painful...I went through Hurricane Katrina and don't remember a whole lot of what happened for 8 months after the storm...

  2. You most certainly can and do lose significant amounts of memory after the traumatic loss of loved ones. The biggest example of this is when I sat with  my father for 6 days in a hospital before he passed away. When I returned home I was completely shocked to find my kitchen had been redecorated 2 weeks prior! The stupid part of this is that I was the one who had redecorated it. Your question is certainly very interesting. Thank  you. Best wishes. UK

  3. You can't .. but you can avoid remembering it ..

Just go on with your life..
