  1. Currently in Ontario you lose your license and get your car towed for a week, and face a fine from $2K to $10K, if you speed over 50km over the limit.

For those who don't live in Ontario - the average speed that people drove on many of the highways before the new rules were 130-140 km even though the speed limit was 100km. Nowdays it's more like 120km. It's not like in some other areas where people actually respect the speed limit - culturally, Ontarians tend to go over it regularly. (And for the Americans, it's 50 km not 50 miles over).

  2. FIFTY over the limit?  I would hope you lose your license for good.

  3. h**l if your doing 50 mph over the speed limit I sure would hope they would take away your license.  They should take your car while their at it you won't need it anymore.

  4. The new law states...

When caught driving 50 kph over the posted limit ---

Automatic roadside license suspension for 7 days

Automatic roadside vehicle impoundment for 7 days

Automatic hefty fine to a maximum of $10,000

Not sure what the penalties are for repeat offenders.

  5. i dont kno, but d**n in mii state if your even going 26 over the spend limit you can get arrested for reckless driving

  6. up to 10 thousand dollar fine, they can take your vehicle and suspend your lisence for 50 over!

  7. they just passed new laws in ontario, and yes, they can jack your licence for doing over 50.

i got pulled over doing 151 in a 100 on the 401 a week before the new laws. the cop told me it would have been like 600 bucks plus a trip to court, but he dropped it down to 29 over. im uber lucky it wasnt a week later.

i think they are more likely to let you off if its in a higher speed limit zone. if you were doing 101 in a 50 its worse than doing 131 in an 80 for example.
