Can you love more than your first love again? I feel damaged!!?

Question

I am 28 years old and fell in love with my friends girlfriend 7 years ago we were best of friends and always hanging out together. She said we were 'soul mates'! I started to feel like i loved her when we hugged and held hands and i told her in the hope she would feel the same and therefore finish with my mate and we could become boyfriend and girlfriend. She didnt!! She said she felt the same an i had my first sexual experiences with her and i loved her very much, even tho i felt regret and guilt as she was still technically my mates girlfriend! She promised me we would be together but she treated me badly n was quite nasty with me in the end and never split with my mate. We stopped speaking about 4 months after i told her ' loved her ' and she told me she never wanted more than mates. I was heartbroken. I told my mum and dad and brother about her and she never even came to my house. I feel sad now and have had no similar feelings for a girl since, will i get past this and why do i feel like this when she treated me so bad??

well you did kind of try to take ur dudes girl, but i guess you cant help how you feel. but love is an action. the feeling is extra. the feelings hurt the most but you will always be able to feel that love again, but will you ever feel able to be committed again? i think so, time is a strange thing. it adds wisdom and changes us and things in us. your heart and mind will grow and move on.

i know it hurts now and it probably will for awhile believe me i know. but i dont think it was right of you guys doing that behind ur mates back its kinda messed up but infact she knew what she was doing and i think she was just using you for how should i put this...almost like a fling. and now that she probably knows her bf wont leave her she probably has it in her moind she only wants him and only him. dont worry this will all pass time will heal u and for now just be with REAL friends and just have fun lifes too short to dwell on a girl like her even when she treated you like c**p.
