Can you mail animals?

Look first I DONT KNOW. So please don't talk bad about me if this is an obvious answer.

I am looking to see if I can get a family member to mail an animal to me that I can't buy normally. Yes the animal is illegal here, but look past that and just give me an answer. Can animals be mailed? If yes, how? Thank you in advance.

some post offices don't allow that but you can ask if they will do a private shipping

Yes, you can ship an animal.  It's kind of expensive, and they may refuse to do it at certain times (if the weather is really hot, for example), but generally speaking, it can be done.

Now, trying to ship an illegal animal is another matter.  They won't do that for you.

I've heard of it being done. Best bet is to call the local post office or UPS or something, and ask them. I'm pretty sure you can, but it's probably very expensive, and involves a lot of forms relinquishing them of guilt should it die.

mailing an animal would pose severe danger on the animal and it would probably kill it... the animal would be dead on arrival.

it depends on the animal, but you can most places, they do have special care for live shipping. but again it totally depends on the animal. i got some turtles from california when i was visiting and they were illegal because they were under 4 inches and i just took them on the plain with me, they said it would cost tons when i called so i just tried and brought them through as a carryon and they went through the scanner thing in security and they never told me i couldnt do that, but shipping would probably be similar but the animal would be in some cage in storage most likely. but people have done it before.

yes and it could be mailed thru ups or the normal mail i get chickens and stuff mailed to me.
