Hey there~ I know that both countries have strict import/mail regulations that restrict certain food products, but what about chocolate? I'm not talking cases and cases of the stuff, just a single bar or two. Both countries forbid the receipt via post of "dairy products"; does this include milk chocolate? I am the administrator of an online swap group on flickr and I'm just trying to get a better idea of what can and can't be sent to these places. Any input by people living in either Australia or NZ would be much appreciated!

  1. It's no problem to send these to Australia. When they talk about dairy it's more about milk, cheese etc. foods that have live bacteria. Chocolates and lollies are fine.

  2. YES! I often send and recieve chocolate and other packeted food from USA, Canada and Europe. As long as it's processed. I have even had a sesame seed bar from Greece arrive in NZ and we're anal about seeds etc. I would say no to honey also. I'm about to have chocolate and candy brought into NZ from the US and I'm sending some back (a swap). I just write 'confectionery' or 'candy' etc on the Customs Declaration sticker.
