  1. If it's storebought, you could stick it in the microwave for 10 sec, or so;  then whisk with a little wire whisk.  If it's homemade, then whisk in milk about 1 TB at a time until proper consistency.......  Or, make it fresh with 2 c. confectioner's sugar, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, whisking in milk 1 TB at a time until smooth consistency - adjusting sugar/milk as needed

  3. I second the making it fresh idea with powdered sugar, vanilla extract and milk.  Or you can also thin existing frosting with some clear corn syrup.

  5. Sure. Add some milk. You may want to put in a microwave safe bowl and zap it for a few seconds to soften it then stir in a spoonful of milk. Just zap a few seconds at a time and stir in milk until you get the consistency you want.
