On average, do they make good money in talk radio or no? Do you have to be really big to make the big bucks?

  1. The money is not really good when you are first starting out.  You have to think of a career in radio as a never ending ladder.... You kind of have to spend your life always looking to move up a rung of that ladder.

Once you make it to a major market station, the pay can actually be pretty good.

It takes a good while to gain exposure in order to become a big name in Talk Radio, but if that is something that you know deep down that you want to be, nothing can stop you from reaching that goal.

    Average Pay:

Small Market Talker..... $19,000 to $30,000

Medium Market Talker.. $25,000 to $35,00

Large Market Talker.......$35,000 to $90,000 and up.

  2. For every Rush, Jim Rome, Howard, Glenn Beck... there are HUNDREDS of small town wannabes. Some will make it Most won't

It's a strange confluence of talent and being at the right place at the right time.

  3. On average, h**l no they dont.  Maybe 1 out of 10 has a show decent enough to last longer than a year, and then maybe 10% of those people are interesting enough to go on to sindication, like howard stern or rush, etc.  I mean, you can live off the money they make, they make more than min wage and get benifits (some of them), but very few hit it big.  And the ones that do usually busted *** for years and years.
