  1. You can find step by step guide on how to make a website at website like http://oktutorial.com/webdesign.htm .

  2. This is a simple guide to hosting your own website off your own computer. It is 100% free, with optional pay, optional pay as in you can purchase a domain, and a hosting company. Anyways, you can also host a forum website, by swapping Joomla with SMF (simplemachines.org). Its all forums, no news page or front page. But there are some neat things about SMF, which I really like. Anyways, if you need more help, just send me a message, you can email me at BoxCarRacer8792 on AIM, I am always on. Good luck, hope this helps.

By the way, this is a CMS meaing, you can edit everything through internet explorer.  Also you can download and add extensions, even from other computers.  Just have to be the administrator and be on your website in the administrator section, for both SMF and Joomla.

    Guide:

    1) Download MySQL 5.0 which can be googled. Install it, create a password, pretty simple. Do not change anything but the password.

    2) Download SQLyog, which is at SQLyog.com I think. Look for SQLyog stable. should be free.

    3) Open SQLyog and log in with the username 'root' and password 'yourpassword'. Log in, then create a database named 'Joomla'.

    4) Download Xampp to your computer and unzip / install it. If you unzip it, I suggest unzipping it to your C:\ drive, or 'My computer' then 'Local Disk'.

    5) Go to the folder, if you installed it, it is in your C:\ drive. Open the Control Panel, and it should open a small control panel saying "Appache", and "MySQL", click 'Start' for both of them, if they are already not running.

    6) Go to www.Joomla.org and download the latest version. After downloaded, go into your Xampp folder and go into the 'Htdocs' folder and delete everything inside, but DO NOT delete the folder 'Htdocs'. After deleted, extract your joomla files into your htdocs folder.

    7) Go to your router, and do port forwarding, or look for gaming / DMZ hosting, or something around those words. DMZ is the easiest, if you have it. If you have a linksys router, you can go to 192.168.1.1 to get into your router (put those numbers into your internet browser). After you get to DMZ, or Port Forwarding, click on your start button and click 'Run'. Run CMD and a command prompt will open. Type in "ipconfig" and it will show a number like 192.168.1.100 or 192.168.1.105 or the first numbers with the last three numbers different. Put those numbers in your DMZ, or in the port forwarding 'Port' and the port to open would be '80'.

    8) Go to no-ip.com and register and make a domain.

    9) Go to your domain in your internet browser, then follow the simple step-by-step installation settings. The database name is 'Joomla' or whatever you named the database you created. The user is 'root' and the host is 'localhost'. Obviously password is 'yourpassword'.
