Can you make coffee in the microwave?

I want to start drinking coffee but I don't know how to make or what products to buy I was going to mix some liquid coffee mate with Seattle's-Best BLEND and put it in the microwave

to answer you question depends on your  supplies.  If you are using soluble coffee, yes you can make coffee in the microwave.  Boil the water in a microwavable cup and then add soluble coffee to the hot water and... Now if you really want to have a "coffee experience" you would definetly need some other items.  The ultimate experience is having "freshly roasted" specialty grade coffee (3 days at least so the coffee beans can start showing their natural oils) a home burr coffee grinder (you can buy them at target for $25USD) a coffee pot (anywhere), coffee filters (vons, smart & final, etc) and water.

If you are a beginer, i strongly recommend you check out your measurements.  1 teaspoon of freashly ground coffee per cup of water should get you started in the right direction. Eventually when you get to 1 tablespoon (not filled to the top) you will learn to appreciate your coffee...  Try to look for 4 specific traits:

Aroma

Acidity

Body

Flavor

Imagine that your toungue is like a radar.  Your toungue percives acidy flavors on the far left and right sides of your toungue.  Bitterness can be detected on the middle and farthest back part of your toungue.  Sweetness and "salty" flavors will be percieved in the middle and tip of your toungue..  A great coffee is very balanced, smooth, has good acidity and has great aroma...

Start with comercial brands like starbucks, seatles best, coffee bean.  Dont go for DARK ROASTS right from the start.  As you venture on in your journey, start asking about specialty grade coffee, beleive me... you WILL notice a MAJOR difference.
