I was having this debate with a friend of mine - we're both TTC, me #3, her #1 and she wants to try to have twins. From what I've read and understood there a ways in which you can increase your chances of hyperovulation but not to gurantee that it can happen?

IS this correct? If not - how to you make urself hyperovulate?

  1. Hyperovulation occurs with aggressive fertility drugs, such as injectables.  You can't "try" to have twins.  For twins to occur you either have a genetic pre-disposition or you are on fertility medication.

  2. you cannot make yourself hyperovulate by your own...it should be w/ the help of fertility drugs like clomid and injectibles, for they can produce too many eggs that can result to multiple births...esp. if you use this kind of drugs when you are in your 20s bcoz..you have lots of good quality eggs unlike those women who are over 35....when i had my 1st cycles of injectibles i produced 2 mature egg, but it ended in a very early chemical pregnancy (i had a faintest pos. line then the following day its negatived followed by my period)..the 2nd cyle which i was hypestimulated with the drugs (were talking 30 positive maturing follicles here honey!) w/c my RE cancelled that cycle coz i might end up like jon and kate plus 8...the 3rd cycle w/c i got prregnant..i only produce one very mature follicle w/c resulted in a singleton baby inside of me now....

  3. There are things that can increase your chances such as having a lot of kids or conceiving children after age 35 but the chances are still less then what fertility drugs give which are around 20% with the injection medicines.  Clomid only has a 10-12% chance.

I think the best way is to have lots of kids (10 or more).  It effects your hormone levels but you have to want that many children.
