Can you microwave Chinese food containers?

The box you get for leftovers at a Chinese restaurant has a metal handle. Can you put this box in the microwave oven for re-heating?

IF it has a metal handle absolutely NOT!  You will catch the box on fire as well as your microwave.  OMG!

You can microwave the cardboard part if you want, but don't put any metal in the microwave!  However, why not just put it in a glass bowl or plate to heat up, instead of going through the trouble of taking off the handle?

Sure, but they are wax coated cardboard, if you don't mind eating wax. The best way to make the food taste as good as it was when you first got it is to place it in a a zip lock bag, partially open. Read the plastic bag box, not all bags are made for microwaving, they will leach chemicals into your food. Still concerned? Put it in a regular bowl with a plate on top, and nuke it. Enjoy your dinner, peace.

NOOOO. Do not put metal in the microwave. Also, the container (depending on the manufacturor), might melt in the microwave.

Not with the metal handle.  Many chinese restaurants now have the microwave safe cartons which have no handle.
