Can you microwave shoes?

Question

can i dry shoes in the microwave? i know it would not be wise to do so, or even put them in the dryer because they might get ruined, but has anybody done it. What were the results?

I'm not sure about shoes, but one of my room mates used to use the oven at 200 for drying out a pair of all leather boots.  because microwaves work based on ionizing radiation and the interaction and excitation of atoms, any metal on the shoes will cause sparking, and synthetic materials may get too hot and start to break down.  As for adhesives used in most shoes, they are polymer based and will tend to absorb a lot of the radiation used in microwaves.  For people worried about the radiaiton from the microwave, the wavelengths used in microwaves don't make it past the microwave case sheilding because of their energy and wavelength, they're still safe, as long as you don't crawl inside.

i have done it only for 5 seconds. depends on shoe type. i tried leather and it was not pretty...it burnt it and caused a very bad odor.

put them in the dryer. i don't want to know what would happen if you put them in the microwave. haven't done it and the dryer wont hurt them. OR just lay them in the sun, or hang them on a line outside.

dont put shoes in the microwave trust me!!!

you have to let them dry in a dry room like the garage

This must be a joke because no one is actually THAT stupid, are they?

My guess is that the results would be not pretty. Unless you like your shoes on fire, or blown into pieces.
