  1. You can not do your taxes for however long you want but the IRS WILL catch up with you and slap some HUGE fines on you!

  2. Yes, you can. In most cases, you don't owe, and you are just shortchanging yourself. If you do end up owing though, they will eventually find you, and you will pay a HEFTY penalty fee, and possible jail time. Better to file late than never.

  3. no, you would get arrested if the IRS catches you

  4. You will pay interest and penalty.

  5. If your income for the year is below the requirement to file, then you don't have to file.

  6. No the tax man never misses you.....

  7. there is a minimum amount of income before you need to report taxes or certain incomes automatically require you to file a tax return (rent & royalities)

  8. Yes you can, but you will pay in the end when you do file. You don't want to pay a penalty in the end.  But if you are not working you can't pay taxes. Good luck.

  9. This depends on a number of things. If your income was sufficient to have to pay tax and you had nothing withheld (or are self-employed and did not make estimated tax payments), the the IRS can assess the tax by default and proceed with actions to collect it.

If your income was below the filing requirement, then there is no tax to pay--although you'd have to file a return to claim a refund. Similarly, if you had a filing requirement but had sufficient pre-paid credits to satisfy the tax, you'd have to file to claim any refund. You have to file within three years of the due date or you forfeit the refund. There are no penalties involved for a late filed refund return, but there most certainly are for a delinquent balance due return.
