  1. Yes, melatonin & chamomile are fine to mix. Some supplement companies even offer a capsule for sleep that has other herbs in it with the melatonin, such as Passion Flower, California Poppy, Valerian and/or Hops. Melatonin is a hormone. The herbs are calming and anti-spasmodic.

You can boost natural melatonin production by turning out the lights early and avoiding looking at bright computer or television screen for a couple of hours before bedtime. If you have a street light outside your window, use shades to shut out the light. Turkey, cheese and carbohydrates are good to consume. Also onions if you don't mind the morning breath. Use Lavender oil or Chamomile in an aromatherapy diffuser in your bedroom. Or put the essential oils in a carrier like almond oil and rub your legs and the back of your neck with it. Avoid stimulants late in the day like caffeine (duh!), ginseng, vitamin B, mint, grapefruit and eucalyptus.

  2. It is correct that mixing some herbal combinations is not always a good thing.

But, Melatonin along with Celestial Seasonings (tea)...are you going to use Sleepy Time? This combination is fine. It should make you very relaxed and get a good night sleep.
