Alright, well im not exactly trying to mix gauges of wire, but i have an 8 gauge power wire and i am trying to install an in-line fuse (blade type) which has 12 gauge wire coming out each end for about an inch. Now, can i splice that 12 gauge wire with the 8 gauge wire without any problems? Like i said, the 12 gauge wire is only for an inch or so on each end of the fuse holder. thanks a lot guys.

  1. Nah, not a good idea.

Even if you soldered instead of spliced it, it would still add a bunch of resistance to the line. And, I'm not sure what type of power you are running, but that 12 guage part might melt :/

You ought to go out and buy an in-line fuse holder.

Usually there is a set s***w on either side of the fuse holder, and you clamp the power wire into each side.

    Have fun!
