  1. depending how large the holes are in the mesh - could you weave strands of yarn - as many strands as it would take to fill the holes -

draw your monogram out with chalk - then try weaving the yarn, or leather straps, ribbons, seam binding, anything that will fill the letters in.

I would make thick letters to fill in - it will look better - and with ribbons, yarn etc. you can fold the material to make curves.

or if it was block letters it would be even easier.

are you just mongraming your first letter of your name?

remember if you are doing your whole name - your last name is larger and in the center = first name initial on the left and last name inital on the right - you could get the letters from different fonts - print them out - and arrange on your book bag.and start weaving.

  2. Even a lightweight patch would give you more to work with than the mesh of the bag alone would.

May I suggest that you embroider (or even paint!) the monogram on a piece of material in the size and shape (and COLOR) you like, and then just applique it onto your mesh bag.... the applique can be accomplished by using iron -on applique paper (also called fusible web, or Wonder Under)

  3. No , you need a tight weave to the fabric for the monogram to look good. Go with a patch ;)))

  4. Yes, I would think so with an iron-on / tear-away stabilizer.  The iron-on is pretty light-duty, so you can still peel it off (tear-away).   I'm not sure how it would look - I would avoid small design elements.  You could also back it with felt (and a stabilizer) then trim the felt down.

Actually, might just be easier to make a felt patch and sew it on!
