  1. Yes but first I would clean thoroughly the hardwood floor with detergent and warm water to remove dirt and stains. Then let it thoroughly let it dry for a day. Then apply polyurethane to protect the surface. It is very durable and water proof. I would use a satin finish so it won't be too slippery. Once you protect it with polyurethane, you can regularly mop to clean the floor but if you see signs of polyurethane start to wear off, I'd repeat the process.

  2. don't know if this is new flooring or old. But depending on what you want to do with them, generally all you need to do is dustmop them, with either a dry mop, or one sprayed with something like Endust, so you don't just push the little dust bunnies around somewhere else. There would be no harm and wet mopping the floor, with merely a moistened mop, but might remove any surface wax finish. But if you're going to re-wax the floors, no big deal. Mop away

  3. of course you can, try murphy oil soap it is made to clean wood without drying it out.

  4. yes you can mop hardwood floors. just use common sense. dont use a mop with any metal or abrasive points, also a cloth mop is best. one other thing, dont use bleach or even washing up liquid as they will both affect your floor [obviously bleach is worse it will just rot the wax or varnish then eat the wood] go t your local wood floor shop and get apropriate cleaner. some you just mop on and leave to dry, others you let dry then buff up [ youll soon get fed up of that]
