It is named a "double-vee", but I don't believe it is used in any written form. Prove me wrong, if you can.

  1. wallon (wallonne)

  2. le weekend

    un wagon

im 50% french and thats the best i can come up with haha so thats actually a very good point you're making lol

  3. "wagonlit"

It means a railroad sleeper car.

  4. Walloon, Belgium... spoken of in French but perhaps an Anglicism from earlier days. Best I can do!

Now as a Canadian, I can tell you French here is extremely Anglicised so we might partons pour le weekend dans mon wagon avec un waterpistol pour les wee ones... OK I exaggerate but not by much!

  5. Sure.  Le wagon-tombereau.  It is a gondola

  6. There are very few or maybe even no w french words because it is based heavily on Latin, and there is no "w" in latin, all v's are pronounced as w's in latin, but there is no w, so since fench originated from that it does not use w's either.

  7. Wagon: a railway car (as in WagonLit).

    Warranter: to guarantee.

    Watt: watt.

All of course are pronounced as "v".

  8. It's used almost exclusively in words borrowed from other languages,  and be pronounced as either "v" or English "w," depending on the origin of the word.

Examples include  "le weekend" (from English)

                                 le wagon (from German)

"wagonlit" (which is just "wagon" with French "bed" tacked onto it)

  9. You are right. I looked in my dictionary and there are no listings under W. Lol.
