My sister is buying a house that will be completely renovated. She will be living in her current home until the work is completed but is looking for insurance to cover the developing property.

  1. I think you will find that the Builders insurance is all you can have untill the home is finished.

  2. The builder or developer should have his own insurance that should cover you, ask!

  3. you could get a quote at http://www.portwood.co.uk/ - just enter the post-code to start the ball rolling.

  4. You could get cover fairly easily for an unoccupied property, except the cover wouldn't extend to any claims arising out of incidents relating to the renovations. Your sister's best bet is to look for a specific property developer type policy and I'd advise her to contact a local broker for further advice.
