  1. -Present-

    *Everywhere*

Oil is a natural resource conflict. It is running out very quickly, and people not noticing isn't helping. Everyone needs to help conserve oil, but not a whole lot of people know how. It's not too hard, people just need to not drive so much, and when they do drive, drive smaller, more fuel-efficient cars. They don't use as much oil, and help out with the growing issue of global warming. Oil isn't only used for cars, though. It runs machines, which make such common things, such as clothing. Oil is used in plastic, too, and many other things. There was a time when people thought oil would never run out, but they were wrong. Places once booming with oil and riches are now deserted and dirty, just using up place on this precious Earth. We've reached the peak of oil production, the top of the mountain, the time when we're slowing down in finding oil. People are resorting to searching for oil in Antartica, and destroying polar bears and other artic creatures' habitats. I think this is a pretty major conflict, and it's happening right now.

  2. I don't know much about past, but I KNOW that the present resource conflict is actually three into one--the meat, egg, and dairy industries.

    Why?

Animals need TONS of food and water to churn out just a tiny bit of milk, eggs, or meat. Six to sixteen pounds of grain are needed to produce a single pound of meat. More than half the water consumed in the U.S. is used for farming animals for meat.

For animals to reach marketable weight, and fast, farmers use growth hormones. To prevent the animals from getting sick and dying because of terrible living conditions, they use antibiotics.

Animals p**p. A LOT. Since there are so many of them, and it's too much trouble to sell the manure to farms as fertilizer, the farmers just dump this stuff into the water. If it's illegal, it doesn't matter--the farmers are rolling in money and can hire a great lawyer.
