  1. Alex, your answer tells me that you either haven't watched a rugby game or you can't understand the game which is a lot different to the stop for five minutes and play for a couple of seconds american football hi,hi,ih,hi

  2. well some of the ivy league schools have good programs (such as Harvard) , the last i heard they were trying to build a program at TofU but I'm not sure if they had any success. the states really don't have much for a rugby community , your better off coming north and playing for UofVictoria  in BC. or Queens U. in ON. Um, if you do stay in the States I'm not sure if you'll find a good one.

  3. There are only 5 universities/ colleges that offer rugby at the NCAA level- and that is for womens

(Division I -Eastern Illinois University - Charleston, IL ; Division II- West Chester University- West Chester, Pennsylvania; Division III- Bowdoin College- Bowdoin, Maine; Southern Vermont College- Bennington, Vermont; Norwich University- Norwich, Connecticut.)

The reason that there arent more opportunities for rugby scholarships in the states is because Rugby is a club sport in most universities and not a varsity sport. NCAA does not recognize rugby for men at this time as an organized sport. However, there are currently 5 universities that NCAA recognizes rugby as an emerging sport. They started with the women's side to generate interest and because there is more money available to womens sports due to an equal representation of women in sports law. Theres a ton of info on the usa rugby site about this topic if interested.

there are also lists on the http://www.usarugby.org site for club scholoarship opportunities.

here are the teams that went to playoff's last year in mens division I:

Here's an insiders tip if you're searching for colleges: pick one in a warm location... season is much more pleasant and you;ll be able to practice year round outdoors!!  (i went to college in upstate Ny... very chilly!)

**people keep talking about ivy league schools being good- its not all that true- think about it- its rich smart people that go there- most are there for academics- cornell was terrible when we played them... penn state has had good rugby - most of the good rugby and good schools are still in the northeast, california/ south west (arizona area), denver/ utah, or chicagoland

  4. UC - Berkley is the only varsity program in the US - they offer no scholarships, however.  Outside of them, in the next teir there are several strong programs.  (Strong program = full funding, good facilities, good coaching staff, constantly a very good team).

Dartmouth College - club house, a top club in the northeast

Army Academy - stadium, a top club in the northeast

    BYU

    Utah

    Arizona State

    Navy Academy

    Air Force Academy

    Ohio State

    Bowling Green State

If you're straight up looking for the best in terms of how they've performed on the field: go to www.usarugby.org and check out the the archived championship results (they play for a national title every year).  California is generally known for the best rugby at all levels.

  5. There are 2 chiropractic colleges Life College and Palmer College that have full supported rugby programs and they also offer scholarships

  6. "Tangoala, I have three friends in college who play rugby. I watch games with them, and have family who are part of a club in Australia, so I have been familiar with the sport for most of my life. My friends that play rugby in college are not the most athletic, but want recognition as an athlete, so they play rugby, which makes no cuts. It really takes little athleticism, more of a knowledge of the game. Any given person with lots of athletic talent will not choose, of all sport, to play rugby, but rather they will play a sport that offers scholarships, or a high paid professional level of pay...I guess you could say rugby is for second tier athletes with a desire to be recognized as tough."

Going by what you'v just said bro it's clear to me that you know nothing about what rugby is all about. Your entitled to your opinion but don't try to talk about something you know nothing about.

    Kia kaha!!!!

  7. Ivy league schools such as Dartmouth have competitive programs. I know Army, UC Berkeley are also top teams. It is not very prevalent in the US because no one really gives a **** about the sport though...its not even really a sport in my opinion.

  8. harvard

  9. The only one I know of is UC Berkeley, but they have to play somebody, so there must be more out there.
