Can't remember any more - hubby thinks that Rowen Atkinson played a spoof Doctor Who, but hubby is a LOT older than me so he can remember more than me!

14?? I thought there was a lot more than that!! Like something closer to 20 or 25 different actors… or was I mistaken… and no sorry I can’t name them all… I know 11  ÃƒÂ¢Ã‚€Âœofficial” Doctors (Yes I said 11 official Doctors! And that's not counting the one who stood in for William Hartnell) but 10 have already been listed by others so it would seem silly and pointless for me to list them all again... Off the top of my head... Trevor Marten, Richard Hurndall and David Banks are the only names I can think of... Oh, and Hough Grant played the Doctor for about 2 minutes. And of course, as I said above, there were 11 "official" Doctors. Catherine Tate was The “Doctordonna” (Part Doctor – Part Donna)! But those are the only Doctors I can think of off the top of my head.

Compu...Useless's list is pretty darned near what you're looking for I reckon, but then others have suggested interesting other contenders - nearly everyone has Richard Hurndall of course, but are we counting those in the Comic Relief episode? Rowan Atkinson, Richard E Grant, Hugh Grant, Joanna Lumley, Jim Broadbent...(wasn't it?). Jim, I think, also played the Doctor in Victoria Wood As Seen On TV. Lenny Henry, although only just about qualifying as an actor, also played the character on his show. And let's just go utterly confusing - are we including "The Watcher" from Logopolis, who apparently "was the Doctor all along"? And Michael Jayston, who played the Valeyard in the Trial of a Timelord, and who was apparently "The Doctor from a point somewhere between his twelfth and final regenerations"?? Do we count people who've dressed up as the Doctor for cut-aways? Like the guy who stood in for Tom Baker when he was injured, and the guy from this year's finale, who played the 'other' Tenth Doctor? Does Catherine Tate count, as being the DoctorDonna? Dalek Caan described him as "the threefold man" which rather suggests both the double and Donna should be counted as "Doctors"...no? ;o)

Oh and of course there's the question of what counts as TV exactly - Richard E Grant played the Doctor in an animated adventure on the BBC website called Scream of the Shalka...does that count?
