  1. Singing is just like exercising other muscles in your body. Your vocal chords need to be stretched regularly or they become weaker.

The best and simplest answer is always simple scales, preferably done every day--it only takes a few minutes. To keep stretching your range upwards, it's best to sing five notes, from "do" up to "so" and back down to "do" and all the notes in between in solfege. Sing them starting in the lower part of your range, then sing the same scale up a half step until you reach your ceiling. (This is easy with a keyboard if you know basic keys and scales.) Then to strengthen your lower range, sing from "so" and descend to "do" without going back up, starting in the middle of your range. Then keep singing the scale a half step down each time until you reach your floor.

It's pretty easy, and if you don't know music theory or have a good ear, get someone who can play a keyboard to guide you through them first so you get used to it and know what your'e singing. Then you'll just be able to do the exercises by roe after doing them a few times. Take a few minutes to just do them once a day and it'll keep your vocal chords active and even improve your range over time.

  2. if you have a piano/keyboard just sing along with the keys....try to stay away from dairy before a performance(i would know)...even just singing n the shower can help your tone
