I'm 28 and a newly qualified social worker. I'm looking into the VSO process and the website says 2-5 years post qualifying experience. When i sent off for the info it says 5 years post qualifying for social work. I know in 5 years time my life will be in a different place and i won't want to do it. I think my pre-qualifying experience is more relevant to the work they are offering and just wondered if anyone had discussed this with them.

  1. Is your pre-qualifying experience in social work? And do you have at least five years experience in social work?

If not, then there's no place to negotiate with VSO. They are looking for people with expertise, and they are strict about screening for such both because of what is needed in the field and because they can be that discriminating per the qualifications of the people who apply.
