Question:

Can you neuter a male Hamster?

It might sound silly but can you neuter a male hamster, I have a 6 month old Syrian Hamster called Merdock and i would like to get him a friend i know a male will start fights but what about a female. I dont want a army of little hampsters thats why im wondering if you can if you can would they fight still?

  1. It's possible, but not recommended unless it's a life threating situation.  Leave him alone, it's safer.

  3. two hamsters means two cages. they are solitary beings. they don't like to share territory with ANYTHING! don't put them together, they will also fight.

  5. It's possible but risky. I don't think many vets would do this. Plus, it's unnecessary. Syrian hamsters are solitary animals meaning only ONE per cage. Neutering your male won't do anything about him being territorial. He'll still fight with whichever hamster you get. He doesn't need a friend. He has you for that.

  6. well , i dont think it is necessary to neuter a hamster.. haha. i guess if u play with ur hamster more often, it wouldnt be lonely at all in the first place. :)
