I’m going to ask this question a million times until I get into work, I’ve been out of work for 6 ½ months now with no sign of a job – only had one interview in all this time. I tend to fall short as I was fired from my last job (through no fault of my own). I apply to a lot of online jobs, but how I apply is limited as I do not have home internet access and I only have a PAYG mobile phone – being on JSA means I cannot top-up very often, or do anything very often, I'm lucky to be able to eat most days.
Both my boyfriend and I are out of work for the same reason, it’s not easy, and it is made harder by the fact there is no help out there – job centre does nothing to help, in fact they are more of a hindrance and I leave there feeling like scum of the earth, depressed for days afterwards thanks to how they treat me. Agencies I sign up to have no interest in me, I’m not sure how to use them to my advantage. I don’t know what I should be looking for (at the moment it is call centre work, the same work I was doing when I got fired, so little chance), I want career advice too as I want to do study while I have all this free time or take the opportunity to go for the career I want (why is there no career advice for over 25’s?)
I’m just stuck, my boyfriend and I are in so much trouble financially, and I have no idea what to do to get back into work. I've never been out of work before, I've always been offered jobs or given jobs without any trouble, now I’m desperate. Can anyone offer some real advice?
