With the prices of things these days I really cant afford to do anything that isnt absolutely necessary and going to the salon is one of them. Can you offer any tips on how I can cut my hair myself and have it look at least decent. I have very long straight hair and I would like something shoulder length and perhaps layered. Any advice would be welcomed.

  1. get the razor comb thing so it would be easier...if using scissors make sure its for hair..and not kitchen or kiddie scissors..... what you do is wet you hair a little whatever part up and hold the tip of your hair in between your index finger and middle finger and cut the tip

  2. Don't cut it in the dark. :)

Well, I cut my own hair and I have it layered. I don't think it looks too bad, but I wish it was a few inches longer. But if your going to cut it with a layered look, divide it into sections first and just be careful?

Aha, sorry I'm not much help.

  3. You can sell your long hair at: http://hairbuyer.com

  4. Just find a haircut you like, then find out the name and search how to cut it on youtube. Make sure you watch the video a few times over though so you don't mess up. You could also have a friend help you cut it.

  5. look for a cheap hair salon! theres some salons that do cuts for 8 dollers

  6. There is a tech called a full reverse...your hair is long... comb your hair all of it straight up like you're putting it in a ponytail... put a loose band on it to hold it... take it straight up and cut two inches off... this is a great thing to do between pro cuts and to get the dead ends off without touching the actual length of the hair...this gives you long layers.

If you want some of the actual length off your hair... get some you trust and with damp hair comb it all straight down you back and have them take off the amount you want... you have now got a trim and some layers... hope this helps:-))).
