Can you open a bank account with an expired passport??

I live in america and trying to open a bank account in any bank, i.e. Bank of america, washington mutual etc. does a expired passport count as identification?

  1. It depends.

    They will not allow you to use an expired passport as your ONLY form of identification, but if you've already provided your license and social security number and they're requesting another photo ID, that will work.


  2. no you can't unless you have other forms of acceptable IDs or the bank representative is not attentive enough and doesn't notice the expiration date...  

  3. Any time you want to open an account you'll need a valid id.  unfortunately an expired passport, while once valid, is no longer a valid form of identification.
