hey guys whats up?!! i have a question about safes. my dad bought a ET8523-T Sentry Gun Safe about two years ago and now out of the blue he decides that he wants to bolt into the ground. the safe has pre drilled holes and screws that come with it but we had alot of trouble drilling through the concrete foundation. after about an hour i asked my dad why he wanted to bolt it and he said because although the safe is heavy two guys could easily carry it out of the house and steal all of his important documents and his hunting weapons. then he said that simply with a welder they could weld through the metal and open it. Is it really as simple as using a welder to open a safe?

  1. Yes,an oxy-acetelene rig with a cutting torch can make short work in cutting the safe.

  2. The safe is designed to be hard to defeat, but with a torch,

and enough time, they might manage it.

Has your Dad considered building a form and casting a concrete

sheath around the walls and rear of the safe.

(That should discourage a whole crowd of 'Robins Merry Men`.)

  3.   Yep, the cutting torch can make short work of the gun safe but your dad has the right idea about bolting down the safe.Crooks usually don't carry cutting torches around with them so you want to make it as hard as possible for them to get the safe.Keep one gun out so you can shoot the b#stards. In Texas it's legal if they're breaking into your home.

  4. Cheyenne:  Your best option would be to photo copy all important documents, and get insurance policy covering all items in your safe. I think some people could gain access to your safe in 10 minutes or less.

    Good Luck
